The Master Emerald is a very large gem found in the Sonic series and guarded over by Knuckles the Echidna, it is related to the Chaos Emeralds but is said to be even more powerful - for this reason it is often the target of Dr. Eggman and other malicious characters in both the Sonic video-games and comics (though it does not appear too often in the cartoon series).
