The Infinity Gauntlet is a powerful artefact that was used by Thanos to become, for lack of a better term, God - this was due to the gauntlet being empowered by the infinitely powerful Infinity Gems - which granted Thanos almost complete omnipotence to the point he could erase half the universe on a whim.
